Tap vs. Cap - Jason's Blind Taste Test

The Challenge

Jason, being of legal age and of sound mind and memory, agreed to prove his devotion to his favorite bottled water ("Jason's water") in a blind taste test. In case of failing to tell the difference between his water and tap water, he is going to be drinking tap water for a month, and some people will win some money. Otherwise, he'll receive the CEO's Handshake, and other people will win some money.

The Test

On Monday, Feb 9th, 2009 we all gathered in the So-Far-Unnamed-Conference-Room at Drive Current North to witness Jason taking up the challenge, or, as he himself humbly put it, "drink some water". Jason was presented with nine (9) identical cups, filled with nine (9) different water samples, ranging from Orange County tap water to sun-distilled H2O-only water. (We knew which was which, because we put numbers on them and made a list.)

The Results

Jason set aside a cup that he thought contained his water, and a few other cups with water he liked. There was also one cup of water he disliked most. The CHO compared the numbers on the cups with the list and it turned out that [drum roll] Jason had correctly pointed out his favorite water! The worst-tasting water, according to Jason, was actually our office dispenser water. The water samples were then tested with Deris' Cool Gizmo that measures foreign particle content. As you can see, Jason's water is pretty contaminated.

 #   Sample   Particles   Jason's Preference
1. Deris' water (#1) 0
2. Bottled reverse osmosis 3
3. Office dispenser (#2) 11 worst
4. Bryan's filtered 18
5. Joo's reverse osmosis (#8) 64
6. Jason's water (#4) 190 best
7. Orange County tap 290
8. Office fountain 290
9. Office tap (#5) 390
